The term “emptiness” itself can easily conjure up the image of a state of nothingness, hopelessness or the simple absence of everything. But when Buddha speaks of emptiness, when Kabir talks about Shunya does it mean nothingness or hopelessness. Emptiness includes the teaching of impermanence; everything is always in a state of change yet deeply interdependent.
Is there a permanent beloved in the sea of impermanence? Is there a love without attachment? Can “Emptiness” be danced? Can it be rejoiced? “Dancing Emptiness” is an exploration of impermanence and unending interdependence of all. The couplets by Kabir touch the core of Buddha’s philosophy in a journey for unending bliss where everything is connected and interdependent yet transient.
